David Gursky is a New York City-based theater composer, conductor, and pianist. He is the composer of the musical PALM BEACH, which had its world premiere on the mainstage of the La Jolla Playhouse, directed by Des McAnuff. He also composed the musical stage adaptations of the MGM films HEARTBREAKERS and THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR, both commissioned by MGM On Stage. HEARTBREAKERS was presented in the National Alliance for Musical Theater's Festival of New Musicals, directed by Christopher Ashley. Current projects include two new musicals: BRAND NEW YOU (the "wellness" musical) and TRICK!, based on the 1999 romantic comedy film.


On Broadway, David was the Musical Director of DAMES AT SEA and THE NANCE, and has led the orchestras of several other shows, including the original productions of THE PRODUCERS, WHITE CHRISTMAS, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, and JANE EYRE, as well as the revivals of ANYTHING GOES and FINIAN'S RAINBOW. His other NYC credits include the 2022 Broadway revival of INTO THE WOODS, DAME EDNA: THE ROYAL TOUR, THE RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL CHRISTMAS & EASTER SPECTACULARS, FOREVER PLAID, FORBIDDEN BROADWAY, and over twenty Encores! productions at New York City Center.


On national tour, David conducted THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, THE PRODUCERS, and BIG. His regional theater credits include the La Jolla Playhouse, the Old Globe Theater, The Alley Theater, the Yale Repertory Theater, and Paper Mill Playhouse. For television, he conducted THE WONDER PETS, and for several years was the principal pianist in the KENNEDY CENTER HONORS Orchestra on CBS.


David holds a B.A. in Music from Yale College.
